In the field of medical research, an innovative solution is changing the traditional methods of data processing. Several cancer centers are exploring how to achieve effective efficacy evaluation while protecting privacy. The core of this solution lies in the fact that hospitals submit encrypted sample data, which is then processed through a unified procedure to derive statistical results, and these results are recorded on the blockchain to ensure credibility.

Data scientist Jiang Yi played a key role in this project. She utilized SP1 zkVM technology to write complex data processing workflows—including steps such as grouping, removing identifying information, model inference, and significance testing—into Rust scripts. This approach is not only efficient but also generates verifiable proofs, ensuring that the research contract only accepts validated statistical data.

One of the major advantages of this innovative approach is its flexibility and transparency. When modifications to the model are needed, Jiang Yi only needs to update the script version and parameters, and the on-chain proof will automatically update. This not only simplifies the process but also greatly enhances the credibility of the research. Researchers can attach the script hash and proof link in the appendix of their paper, allowing peers to easily verify the results.

For participating hospitals, this approach protects internal privacy while not affecting the effective use of data. They only need to ensure the correctness of the data interface and time window to participate in this innovative research model.

Jiang Yi emphasized to the foundation that the SP1 technology simplifies the complex process of "writing circuits" into "writing business," which means that more researchers can participate in this highly secure and transparent research. This not only enhances the credibility of the research but also transforms "please trust our process" into "a process you can verify yourself."

The significance of this innovative approach goes far beyond a single research project. It provides a shared, verifiable link for research, funding, and the review process. This method not only does not increase compliance burdens, but instead has become an accelerator for advancing research progress. It demonstrates how to achieve a balance between protecting privacy and promoting scientific research in the digital age, opening up new possibilities for future medical research.
