The Bitcoin Buy It" sign sold at auction for about $1 million
The iconic "Buy Bitcoin" sign behind Janet Yellen during her televised Congressional address in July 2017 was auctioned off for BTC 16 (just over $1 million).
Announcing the auction, auction house Scarce.City reported that this sale was a record sum for the auction platform.
The auction was held at PubKey, a Bitcoin-themed bar in New York City.
According to PubKey, the new owner of the sign is an investor named Squirrekkywrath. However, not much is known about him. Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy, says the receiver has "a Bitcoin OG that no one has heard of."
