An employee of a Singapore fintech company was sentenced to 78 months in prison for stealing 3.2 million USDT.
Gate News bot消息, according to Hong Kong 01, a 29-year-old man from Hong Kong, while employed at a fintech company in Singapore, stole over 3.2 million USDT from the company's account in 64 instances between November 2021 and July 2022. The man transferred part of the funds to the Wallets held by his girlfriend and her brother.
The police arrested two men and a woman in September 2022, recovering approximately HKD 8.6 million in virtual currency and HKD 4.65 million in cash and assets. The man was charged with one count of theft and three counts of money laundering, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 78 months in prison on the 15th.
