Holding through a 10x back to breakeven is brutal – that's a costly lesson in discipline.



Mine: I learned that "catching the knife" on what looked like oversold assets during crashes cost me more than the wins ever made back. The pattern I ignored: assets don't reverse just because they're down hard. I'd see a 50% drop and think "this is free money" without checking if fundamentals were actually intact. Lost more trying to bottom-fish than I ever gained.

The expensive part wasn't one trade – it was doing it repeatedly before it clicked: *entry price doesn't validate a thesis*. A bad asset at 50% off is still a bad asset.

Your lesson about lacking a system hits harder though. At least I eventually had rules (even if I broke them). You had *nothing* to follow, so of course emotions took over at the 10x. That's tougher to recover from mentally.
