NYSE will launch a platform to tokenize 20 securities using blockchain technology
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is developing an innovative platform designed to enable continuous trading of 20 selected securities through tokenized representation of U.S. stocks and ETFs. This project leverages blockchain technology to revolutionize traditional financial markets, removing the barriers of conventional trading hours and allowing investors to access these 20 securities 24/7.
24-Hour Trading with Real-Time Settlement
The NYSE platform aims to offer instant transaction settlement using stablecoins for financing and clearing. This real-time settlement capability represents a significant advancement over traditional post-trade systems, which typically take several days to complete. With the tokenization of these 20 securities, operators could execute transactions and settle operations simultaneously, improving market efficiency and reducing counterparty risk.
Blockchain Technology and Multichain Architecture
The system is powered by ICE’s Pillar engine (Intercontinental Exchange), the NYSE parent corporation, and integrates multichain post-trade infrastructure to ensure interoperability and scalability. According to information from NS3.AI, the initiative is in the regulatory review phase, meaning that before operational launch, it must obtain the necessary approvals from U.S. financial authorities.
This advancement positions NYSE as a pioneer in integrating tokenized assets into traditional markets, setting precedents for other exchanges to adopt similar models with their own sets of 20 securities or more.
