Does GameStop want to spend $56 billion to buy eBay? This move is even more aggressive than MicroStrategy!
You think GameStop is just selling game discs?
Wrong.
Now it’s using BTC as a weapon to acquire eBay.
No joke, it’s a real $56 billion deal.
Ryan Cohen, Chairman and CEO of GameStop, officially made an acquisition offer to eBay.
$125 per share, a 20% premium, with a total valuation of about $55.5-56 billion.
50% in cash + 50% in GME stock.
GameStop has quietly accumulated approximately 5% economic interest in eBay.
Financing? $9.4 billion in cash + a $20 billion debt commitment from TD Bank.
The board of directors: unanimously approved.
Cohen himself: will serve as CEO after the merger, without a salary.
GameStop’s logic is as follows:
First, hoard BTC to let the market revalue its balance sheet — stock price rises, credit improves.
Use this “expanded” balance sheet, supported by BTC, to borrow $20 billion from banks.
Then, combine it with its high-valued GME stock (also supported by the BTC narrative).
Finally, swallow eBay whole.
After MicroStrategy, the second company using BTC for traditional expansion appears.
And it’s even more aggressive than MicroStrategy—
MicroStrategy is “buy BTC → hold as an asset,”
GameStop is “hoard BTC → use as ammunition → acquire.”
1. BTC is no longer an “alternative asset,” but “acquisition ammunition.”
In the past, to acquire a company, you had to issue bonds, rights issues, or find banks.
Now? As long as you hoard enough BTC, your balance sheet itself becomes a weapon.
2. A new play for publicly traded companies: hoard BTC → boost market cap → issue stock + cash → acquire traditional giants.
Once this chain is running smoothly, who could be the next target for acquisition?
Walmart? Target? Even… Amazon?
3. Cohen not taking a salary is even more ruthless than a 20% premium.
What does this imply?
He’s not here to work for money.
He’s here to rewrite the rules of the game.
GameStop, once called a “junk stock” shorted by Wall Street,
Now using BTC to acquire eBay.
