Been diving into the metaverse space lately and honestly, there's way more going on than just the hype Facebook created a few years back. I've been checking out various metaverse app options, and it's interesting how different they all are.
Some of these are wild - like Axie Infinity actually had people playing and earning back in 2021. The whole play-to-earn thing caught on pretty fast. Then there's Decentraland where you're literally buying virtual land as NFTs, and apparently MANA went nuts in price at one point. The Sandbox seems similar but uses voxels like Minecraft, which is a neat approach.
Roblox is different because it's not even blockchain-based, just a massive platform where people make games. They had over 200 million monthly users a few years back and it's publicly traded, which is wild for a metaverse app.
I also came across some newer metaverse app projects during presale phases - RobotEra with its TARO token, Battle Infinity on BSC with their 3D Battle Arena, MOBOX combining gaming with NFTs. They all promise different things, but the pitch is basically the same: create, trade, earn.
The thing is, most of these metaverse app platforms are still figuring things out. Some focus on VR integration like Bloktopia, others on customizable avatars like Zepeto. Mines of Dalarnia went the dungeon-crawler route. It's hard to say which ones will actually stick around or become mainstream.
If you're thinking about getting into any metaverse app, you'd probably want to research the specific one you're interested in rather than just FOMO-ing into whatever's trending. The space is still pretty experimental.
