Obtaining GUSD
Gate.com provides two primary methods for users to get GUSD:
1. Minting GUSD (Direct Conversion): Gate.com allows you to mint GUSD 1:1 from USDT or USDC via the Staking (Earn) section of the platform. Minting is straightforward:
Go to the “GUSD Minting” page on Gate.com (under the “Earn” or “Staking” menu).
- Choose the stablecoin you want to convert (you can use either USDT or USDC as input).
- Enter the amount you wish to convert. (For example, to mint 500 GUSD, you would provide 500 USDT or 500 USDC.)
- Confirm the transaction. Gate.com will deduct your USDT/USDC and credit your account with an equal amount of GUSD.
- Key point: Minting is done at a 1:1 ratio with no slippage – you get exactly as many GUSD as the USD value you put in. This is the most direct way to obtain new GUSD and ensures you’re starting with fresh tokens that will accrue interest going forward.
2. Trading GUSD on the Spot Market: GUSD is also listed on Gate.com’s spot exchange, meaning you can buy and sell GUSD just like any other cryptocurrency. Gate.com launched a GUSD/USDT trading pair (and possibly other pairs like GUSD/USD or GUSD/BTC) from day one. If you have USDT and prefer using the order book:
Navigate to the Spot Trading section and find the GUSD/USDT pair.
- Place a buy order for the amount of GUSD you want (using USDT to pay for it). Since GUSD is meant to stay near $1, the price should hover around 1 USDT for 1 GUSD (ignoring minor market fluctuations).
- Once your order executes, you’ll have GUSD in your account which you can hold or use.
- Trading on the market is useful if, for example, you already have USDT in your account and want to swap quickly, or if you wish to sell GUSD for USDT at some point. It also adds flexibility – you can set limit orders to acquire GUSD at a desired price, etc.
Both methods are easy. Minting via conversion guarantees a 1:1 rate instantly, while spot trading might be convenient for active traders. You can choose the method that suits you – the end result is the same GUSD in your wallet.
(Note: Deposits and withdrawals for GUSD are also enabled on Gate.com. This means if you want to transfer GUSD off-platform to an external wallet or receive GUSD from elsewhere, you can. GUSD is likely issued on a specific blockchain network; ensure you use the correct chain when withdrawing or depositing. By supporting on-chain transfers, Gate.com is expanding GUSD’s circulation beyond just the exchange.)
Using GUSD on Gate.com
Once you have GUSD, Gate.com offers a wide range of uses for it, integrating GUSD into various financial products and services on the platform. Here are the main ways you can utilize GUSD:
- As a Stable Trading Asset: Like any stablecoin, you can use GUSD to trade against other cryptocurrencies. For example, you might sell Bitcoin or Ethereum into GUSD to lock in profits in a stable asset. GUSD can act as your safe parking asset during volatile times, with the bonus that it’s earning yield while you hold it. This makes GUSD a great base currency for trading – you earn passive interest even when you’re “on the sidelines” of the market.
- Unified Account Margin: Gate.com has a Unified Account system where various assets in your account collectively serve as collateral for margin trading, futures, and other leveraged products. GUSD is supported as a margin asset from day one. This means if you trade futures or margin on Gate.com, holding GUSD in your account will contribute to your margin balance. Traders can keep their capital in GUSD (gaining interest) and simultaneously use that GUSD as collateral for trading positions – increasing capital efficiency. For example, instead of holding plain USDT as margin (earning nothing), you could hold GUSD, and still open a leveraged position, effectively earning yield on your margin collateral.
- Flexible Savings (Simple Earn): Gate.com’s Simple Earn (a flexible savings program) supports GUSD deposits. You might wonder why a yield-bearing token needs an Earn program; likely, this is an option for users who want an easy way to hold GUSD and maybe receive any additional incentives. By depositing your GUSD into Simple Earn, you continue to get the inherent RWA interest (built into GUSD) and possibly some extra yield that Gate might distribute (this could be from revenue share or promotional interest). Even if no extra interest, Simple Earn provides flexibility to earn interest + potential bonuses with no lock-up – you can redeem anytime. Essentially, Gate.com has made GUSD available in the same interface as other savings products for user convenience.
- Launchpool Staking (High-Yield Incentives): To kickstart GUSD’s adoption, Gate.com introduced a Launchpool staking pool for GUSD. Launchpool is a service where users stake a token and earn rewards in a new token. In GUSD’s first launchpool, users who staked GUSD earned CELB token rewards, with an estimated annualized yield of up to 365%! This triple-digit APY is far above normal and was part of a promotional event. It’s important to understand this 365% yield is not the regular interest rate of GUSD’s Treasuries, but rather an additional reward program. The high yield came in the form of new project tokens (CELB) distributed to GUSD stakers, effectively an airdrop incentive. Launchpool events like this can be an excellent opportunity – by staking your GUSD (which is stable in value) you earn potentially valuable new tokens. Gate.com has indicated that more GUSD staking pools and liquidity incentive programs will be introduced in collaboration with other projects. This means GUSD holders should watch out for periodic opportunities to gain extra rewards on top of the base interest.

- Crypto Lending and Borrowing: GUSD is being integrated into Gate.com’s lending services as well. On the Lending page, users will be able to lend out GUSD to margin borrowers or use GUSD as collateral to borrow other assets. Lending GUSD could earn you interest from borrowers (in addition to the inherent yield – a potentially double gain). Conversely, borrowing GUSD might appeal to those who want a stablecoin loan that doesn’t lose value over time (since any GUSD you hold will gain value, offsetting some interest cost of borrowing it). Gate.com is rolling out these lending features for GUSD to enhance its utility in the ecosystem.
- CandyDrop & Other Promotions: Gate.com often runs CandyDrop events (free token giveaways) and trading competitions. GUSD is slated to be included in such promotions. For instance, holding or trading GUSD might qualify you to receive free tokens in CandyDrop draws, or special airdrops exclusive to GUSD users. These promotional perks provide another reason to engage with GUSD on the platform.
- Payments and Transfers: As GUSD grows, it could also be used for payments via Gate Pay or P2P transfers if supported. Being a stable value token, it’s ideal for sending funds to others without worrying about price changes in transit. (If Gate Pay or similar services integrate GUSD, you could pay merchants or friends in GUSD knowing the value is reliable.)
In summary, Gate.com has woven GUSD into nearly every aspect of the platform: trading, earning, staking, lending, and more. This wide integration ensures that as a Gate user, you can fully utilize GUSD in whichever strategy you prefer – whether that’s passively earning or actively trading.
Using GUSD: An Example Scenario – Suppose you are a Gate.com user who usually keeps funds in Tether (USDT) between trades. After learning about GUSD, you decide to convert your USDT to GUSD to take advantage of the yield. You mint 1,000 GUSD. Now, while you wait for the next trading opportunity, those 1,000 GUSD are backed by Treasuries earning interest. A few weeks later, you see a promising dip in Bitcoin price and want to buy in. You can directly use your 1,000 GUSD to buy Bitcoin on the spot market (just as you would with USDT) – GUSD’s stable value means your purchasing power was preserved, plus slightly increased due to interest accrual. Alternatively, if you trade futures, your 1,000 GUSD sits as margin; you open a futures position while the unused portion still accrues interest. Later, you might stake some GUSD in a Launchpool for a new token reward campaign, boosting your returns further. Throughout all this, you didn’t need to convert to fiat or a non-yield asset – GUSD served as a productive form of “cash” in your account. 🎯
By leveraging GUSD’s features, you as a user can earn passive income on idle funds, enhance your trading collateral, and participate in exclusive Gate.com events – all with a single asset. This kind of versatility is what Gate.com envisioned for GUSD as a core piece of its platform.
