ChainCatcher Message, AMLBot’s latest report shows that between 2023 and 2025, Tether has frozen a total of 7,268 addresses through its freezing mechanism, involving $3.29 billion USDT, of which over 53% of the frozen USDT is on the Tron network.
In contrast, Circle has only frozen 372 addresses and $109 million USDC, a scale difference of 30 times. The strategies of the two are completely different. Tether adopts an active enforcement model, cooperating with 275 law enforcement agencies worldwide, capable of proactively freezing suspicious addresses and supporting a burn + reissue mechanism to return funds to victims. In July 2024 alone, over $130 million was frozen, including $29.6 million related to the Cambodian Huione Group.
Circle, on the other hand, only responds to court orders and regulatory requirements, with freezing actions being rare but concentrated, and does not support a burn and reissue mechanism.
