PANews reported on January 21st that Martin Köppelmann, co-founder and CEO of Gnosis, expressed that the core issue facing Ethereum in recent years is the divergence in development direction: on one hand, there is the concept of ‘ETH as money’, believing that transaction capacity and fees are irrelevant, with the focus on ‘monetary premium’; on the other hand, there is the positioning of Ethereum as a ‘world computer/settlement layer’, primarily following transaction capacity (including L1 expansion) and total fees as the measure of success. He believes that if Ethereum can seize this opportunity and prioritize transaction capability and the needs of application developers, it will be a significant victory.
