The ANZ Bank economist, Krystal Tan, stated in a report that the Ngân hàng trung ương of South Korea may cut interest rates by 25 điểm cơ bản in January and February, which is faster than ANZ Bank’s previous forecast of one rate cut in the first and second quarters. Tan pointed out that South Korea needs to adopt proactive policies to mitigate downside risks, as the political instability caused by the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol is worsening the economic headwinds, and political normalization is crucial for domestic demand recovery. ANZ Bank has revised down its GDP growth forecast for South Korea in 2024 by 0.1 percentage points to 2.1%.
