On January 20th I was still filling up at $1.55 AUD per litre, and by yesterday it had already jumped to $2.40 AUD per litre. Over the past few days I've been watching the numbers climb day by day, with a full tank going from $70 to nearly $110 AUD.
The impact of fuel prices is now reaching the end consumer. Yesterday I was planning to call someone to come fix my garage door, and they told me the call-out fee alone would be $400 because fuel is so expensive, and making a special trip just for me has become costly.
I then found a guy on Hipages who happened to be passing near my place anyway, and he only charged $260.
Yesterday I heard that domestic fuel prices were also going to spike dramatically, which balanced my psychology a bit. But today I heard that the National Development and Reform Commission is controlling prices with subsidies covering half the cost, and suddenly I feel like socialism isn't so bad 😂😂😂
