On November 15, according to the New York Post, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he plans to sue the BBC over its investigative documentary series “Panorama” for editing his speech from January 6, 2021. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday night, “We may sue them sometime next week, for an amount between $1 billion and $5 billion.” He added that he plans to discuss the matter with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer this weekend. A BBC spokesperson stated on Thursday, “BBC lawyers have responded to a letter received on Sunday from President Trump's legal team. BBC Chairman Samir Shah also sent a private letter to the White House, clearly expressing to President Trump that both he and the BBC deeply regret the editing of Trump's speech on January 6, 2021.”
