Odaily Planet Daily reports that cybersecurity engineer Li Dong was indicted by the Changge City Procuratorate in Henan on charges of theft and infringement of citizens’ personal information for allegedly exploiting a program vulnerability to steal personal information of over 1.84 million Chinese citizens from the overseas gambling website “Kaiyun Sports,” and selecting high-rebate agent accounts to illegally obtain agent rebate funds totaling over 35.5 million yuan through technical means.
Previously, Zhangjiajie police in Hunan and Changge police in Henan filed cases against Li Dong for suspected illegal gambling. Zhangjiajie police confiscated 103 bitcoins from him, worth over 49.61 million yuan after liquidation. Henan police seized 80 bitcoins from him, with a market value exceeding 40 million yuan. The case is currently being tried in Changge City Court, with the defense lawyer arguing for innocence. The court will schedule another hearing at a later date. (The Paper)
