The movement of institutions focusing on SOL

Abstract generation in progress

It is actually quite normal for a 7-week-old fetus to have a weak heartbeat. Since this tiny life is still in the early stages of development, the heart is small and often difficult to detect even with ultrasound.

I also remember my friend's early pregnancy, but she couldn't find the heartbeat at her 7-week check-up, and she was almost in tears. But the doctor said, "It's still early, so don't worry, let's wait a little longer." Indeed, a week later, the heartbeat was confirmed safely.

However, to be honest, there are times when I feel a little dissatisfied with the response of the medical field. I wish they would explain it more carefully. Some doctors give anxiety such as "I can't see the heartbeat = there is a problem". I think we need to understand women's insecurities better.

There's also a story about a 41-year-old celebrity who was pregnant with her third child. At the 7th week check-up, a heartbeat could not be confirmed, and the pregnancy was eventually interrupted. Considering the risk of giving birth at an advanced age, this kind of case may be particularly worrisome.

In my experience, whether early heartbeats are weak, it's important to see if they improve at the next check-up. It seems that a heart rate above 100 has a better prognosis than one below 100. But medicine is ultimately a matter of probabilities, and it’s not absolute.

Ultimately, if a heartbeat is not found by the 8th week, it may be a cause for concern, but by the 7th week, I think it's fine to just "wait and see." What's more important is having someone by your side during anxious times.
