Bank of America continues to face difficulties! Lindsey First National Bank goes bankrupt, ringing alarm bells for the latest financial crisis.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) made a surprising announcement. On October 18, 2024, Lindsay First National Bank collapsed. A new name has been added to this year's list of bank failures.
Regional banks across the United States are still struggling. The changes in the interest rate environment are tough. I feel that the value of commercial real estate continues to decline. After the pandemic, the vacancy rate for office buildings has surged. This could be the worst-case scenario for regional banks. Loans secured by real estate with decreased value. With rising interest rates now, refinancing those loans is almost impossible.
This bankruptcy feels somewhat familiar. The commotion back in March 2023. Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, and then Signature and First Republic followed suit in a chain reaction. The regional banking sector is still shaking. Stability? That word might already be a thing of the past.
The FDIC numbers are shocking. Since 2000, a total of 572 banks have disappeared. That's an average of 23 banks per year. That's too many. The crisis of 2023 has been the largest turmoil since 2008. It seems like it's not over yet.
The global financial situation remains unstable. Gold prices continue to rise. It is clear that people's trust in the currency system is wavering. There may be some fundamental issues.
