Don't remind me again today

European regulators might be shooting themselves in the foot with their latest move. New safety regulations targeting cobalt processing could absolutely wreck what's left of the continent's domestic cobalt industry.

The proposed rules would impose stricter workplace safety standards and environmental controls on cobalt refineries and processing facilities. Sounds reasonable on paper, right? But here's the kicker – compliance costs could push many smaller operators completely out of business.

Cobalt's already a tricky market. Europe imports most of its supply from the Congo, where production conditions have been controversial for years. These new regulations were supposed to clean up European operations and maybe shift some supply chains back home. Instead, they might just accelerate the industry's collapse on the continent.

Some industry veterans are calling it regulatory overreach. Others say it's necessary for worker protection. Either way, European cobalt processors are caught in the middle, facing a choice between massive capital investments or shutting down entirely.

The timing couldn't be worse either. With global battery demand surging and supply chains still recovering from recent disruptions, killing off domestic cobalt capacity seems like a questionable strategic move. But that's where we're headed unless someone pumps the brakes on these rules.

The EU's move is really something; it's like lifting a rock only to smash your own foot. --- It's just another old script of over-regulation killing the industry, hilarious. --- The Supply Chain hasn't recovered yet and now they want to self-destruct; I truly don't understand this tactic. --- Once compliance costs rise, small factories go bankrupt directly, and then they'll have to rely more on imports from Congo; really interesting. --- To put it bluntly, the planning wasn't thought through, and now everyone is going down together. --- What kind of logic is this? Do workers' rights and industry survival have to be a choice between the two? --- Over in Europe, it's all self-castration while Asia is already thriving. --- Battery demand is rising, yet they're cutting their own cobalt production capacity; have they lost their minds? --- The key issue is the timing; making this move now is simply handing over heads.

Europe's recent actions are really outrageous, are they strangling their own Supply Chain? --- Another set of seemingly perfect rules ends up collapsing the entire industry chain, this rhythm is really absurd. --- The Supply Chain hasn't even recovered yet, and now they're going to cut domestic cobalt production capacity, do they really want to be choked? --- Small factories can't hold on at all, large factories don't care, and in the end, it's just hollowing out the industry, this logic makes sense. --- Just when I wanted to leverage, Europe hit me with a critical blow, I'm dizzy. --- Safety standards are necessary, but this approach is just indirect Capitulation. --- Is the cobalt price about to To da moon? This business is indeed interesting.

European regulators have committed suicide again... They want to protect worker safety but end up pushing the entire cobalt industry to its death, this operation really makes me... If we talk about it with data, the cost pressure on small and medium-sized smelters will directly lead to more than 75% of the market clearing, which will ironically push the Supply Chain back to Africa.

This regulatory logic is really absurd; in trying to protect workers, they end up killing the industry... I don't understand this play in Europe.

Europe's recent actions are really like lifting a stone to hit its own foot. The rules are becoming stricter, and compliance costs are rising sharply. Small companies simply can't hold on.
