Very good question! There are two situations that cause traders to "suffer huge losses." One is when leverage is extremely high, leading to a margin call. However, during my two years of significant losses, it wasn't this scenario, but rather a more "hidden" and painful way of losing money — multiple consecutive trades all failing, forced to cut losses, ultimately resulting in a large overall loss due to "continuity." Keyword: continuity... So trading is really difficult, and the importance of "luck" for traders is often greatly underestimated.
