Investigators tracked at least 31 cryptocurrency transactions from the suspect-controlled virtual wallet to addresses believed to be associated with entities used by Islamic organizations. The organization carried out an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, sparking a two-year-long war in the Gaza Strip. Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by the 27 EU member states and other Western countries. Due to the sensitivity of the investigation, police declined to comment on the suspect’s possible motives or whether he has links to Hamas or is merely an intermediary. Police said that during searches of the suspect’s hair salon and residence, they seized digital assets, cash, approximately 9,000 cigars, jewelry, computers, and mobile phones. They also froze multiple bank accounts, with the total seized and frozen assets exceeding 370,000 euros. Police stated that their investigation began last June, when authorities were conducting a separate probe into fraud and money laundering cases.
