Waymo Testifies Before the U.S. Senate to Defend Its Safety Record

Google's autonomous driving division, Waymo, is preparing for a crucial appearance before the U.S. Senate. In this legislative hearing, the company will present arguments to support its safety record in operating autonomous vehicles.

According to Jin10, Waymo claims that its rates of serious injuries and significant accidents are substantially lower than those caused by human drivers—approximately one-tenth. This data will be central to its defense of the viability and safety of its vehicle automation systems.

The appearance marks an important moment for the autonomous driving industry, which faces increasing regulatory scrutiny. Waymo's performance history could set precedents for future policies on the approval and operation of autonomous vehicles in the United States.
