National Health Commission responds to issues of patient rights violations at some psychiatric hospitals in Xiangyang and Yichang

The relevant person in charge of the National Health Commission stated that the National Health Commission attaches great importance to media reports about violations at some psychiatric hospitals in Xiangyang and Yichang, Hubei Province, including illegal admissions, suspected misuse of medical insurance funds, and infringement of patients’ rights. They have dispatched officials and experts from relevant departments to Hubei to supervise and guide local investigations, and to handle the issues seriously and in accordance with the law. At the same time, they require health authorities at all levels to strengthen supervision of psychiatric hospitals and departments, standardize medical services, and effectively protect patients’ rights and the health of the people.
