The 14th National People’s Congress Fourth Session will hold a press conference at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Media Center News Hall. Central Political Bureau Member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will answer questions from Chinese and foreign journalists regarding “China’s foreign policy and international relations.”

Wang Yi stated that this year, China-Africa relations will usher in a series of new developments, and he suggested focusing on three key areas.

First, the construction of the China-Africa community with a shared future will take new steps. We will host visits from several African leaders in 2026, strengthen mutual support as a all-weather partner, and write a new story of shared destiny.

Second, China will fully implement zero tariffs on 100% of non-sensitive products exported to Africa starting May 1. Driven by China’s high-level opening-up, we will promote trade growth through tariff reductions, improve people’s livelihoods through multiplication, and create greater opportunities for Africa in China’s vast market.

Third, the “China-Africa Year of Cultural Exchanges” has begun, with nearly 600 exciting exchange activities scheduled for this year. China is willing to work with African brothers to deepen cultural mutual learning, promote people-to-people connections, and ensure that China-Africa friendship is passed down through generations.
