Coinworld News on March 13 — According to the Wall Street Journal, two U.S. officials stated that the Pentagon is considering deploying additional warships to the Middle East to prepare for escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. One of the officials said that U.S. Central Command has requested additional destroyers and Navy amphibious ships to help protect commercial vessels attempting to pass through the strait. U.S. officials indicated that even with additional warships deployed, U.S. forces will not immediately begin escort operations and must first reduce the threat from Iran. This process could take a month or longer.
