The European Union has imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies and one Iranian company in response to cyberattacks targeting EU member states. The measures include asset freezes and travel bans for the involved individuals, and EU citizens and businesses are prohibited from providing funds to the companies involved.

The EU has listed China-based Integrity Technology Group and Anxun Information Technology, as well as Iran’s Emenet Pasargad, on the sanctions list.

The EU stated that Integrity Technology Group is believed to have assisted in hacking over 65,000 devices across six member states; Anxun Information is suspected of providing malicious services targeting critical infrastructure, and its two co-founders have been individually sanctioned for their involvement in cyberattacks. Emenet is reportedly accused of hacking billboards during the 2024 Paris Olympics to spread false information.
