The highlight was Groq 3, a new language processing unit built to run AI models once they are trained. This stage, known as inference, powers tools like chatbots and other generative AI systems.

Nvidia said the chip will power a new LPX server rack that includes 128 Groq 3 processors. The system can also work with Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin platform, which combines CPUs and GPUs to handle large AI workloads in data centers.

Groq 3 and Vera Signal a Bigger Push Beyond GPUs

For years, Nvidia’s graphics processors helped train AI models, while CPUs from Intel or AMD managed the rest of the system.

With the launch of the Groq 3 chip and the Vera CPU, Nvidia is taking on more of that role itself.

Groq 3 is designed to run AI models quickly once they are deployed. Faster inference means AI tools can respond to user prompts almost instantly.

Nvidia also introduced the Vera CPU, a processor built specifically for AI workloads. Instead of relying on general-purpose chips from Intel or AMD, Nvidia is now offering its own processor to manage AI systems inside data centers.

The company also showed how these chips will work together inside the Vera Rubin server platform, a large system designed to run advanced AI models at scale.

Why It Matters

The announcements highlight Nvidia’s plan to expand beyond GPUs as demand grows for the hardware that powers artificial intelligence.

By developing its own CPU to compete with Intel and a specialized inference chip to rival other AI processors, the company is aiming to play a bigger role in AI infrastructure as demand continues to grow.

Is NVDA Stock a Buy?

Nvidia’s stock has a consensus Strong Buy rating among 39 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on 38 Buy and one Hold recommendations issued in the past three months. The average NVDA price target of $273.61 implies 49.35% upside from current levels.
