A man was forgotten on the MRI scanner for 6 hours. His wife was so anxious she called the police, but police couldn’t find him on surveillance footage.

On March 13, Huazhong University of Science and Technology Tongji Medical College affiliated Tongji Hospital issued a “Situation Report” on the incident where a patient was forgotten during an MRI for 6 hours:

According to investigation, in the early hours of February 26, the radiology department staff violated work discipline and handover procedures, resulting in the patient being left on the examination table for nearly 6 hours after the scan was completed. The hospital’s medical management department promptly apologized to the patient, accompanied the patient for a comprehensive health check, and maintained active communication with the patient’s family regarding compensation. The hospital established a special rectification team, ordered relevant departments to conduct a thorough review, and suspended the involved medical staff from their duties.
