Iran's Supreme Leader Rejects Mediation Proposal

According to senior Iranian officials speaking to Reuters, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, rejected proposals for easing tensions or achieving peace with the United States at a foreign affairs meeting, dismissing a proposal forwarded to the Iranian Foreign Ministry by intermediaries from both countries.

Senior Iranian officials stated that during the foreign affairs meeting, Khamenei said, “Now is not the time for peace,” and emphasized that the United States and Israel must be defeated and made to pay reparations.
