Tencent Music's adjusted profit increased by 25% last year

Tencent Music Entertainment Group (01698) announced that for the year ending December 2022, the attributable net profit to shareholders was RMB 11.056 billion, a year-on-year increase of 66.41%. Earnings per share were RMB 3.6, with a dividend of $0.12.

The profit increase was mainly due to the company’s recognition of a total investment disposal gain of RMB 2.37 billion in the first quarter of 2025. Adjusted profit, excluding non-IFRS items, was RMB 9.588 billion, up 24.99% year-on-year.

During the period, total revenue reached RMB 32.902 billion, an increase of 15.85% year-on-year. Revenue from online music services grew 22.92% to RMB 26.726 billion.

In the fourth quarter alone, attributable net profit was RMB 2.203 billion, a 12.57% increase year-on-year. Adjusted profit, excluding non-IFRS items, was RMB 2.485 billion, up 8.99% year-on-year.

Tencent Music Entertainment Group CEO Liang Zhu stated that with differentiated massive content rights and immersive experiences, the company’s super membership count has surpassed 20 million, and the average monthly revenue per paying user continues to grow steadily. Additionally, the recently launched advertising membership subscription plan has shown initial progress, which will help further expand user reach and attract new audiences in the future.
