Abstract generation in progress

Reports indicate that Yahoo Hong Kong, a branch established in Hong Kong in 1999, will cease providing original news and financial content starting in April. Currently shared news from other media on the site will also be gradually discontinued within the year, leaving only email and search services.

Sources say Yahoo management held a meeting on Tuesday (17th) with content and commercial department staff to discuss the arrangements, but did not disclose the reasons for the “business reduction.” Most full-time staff in the news department will be laid off by March 31, including sales staff, with a small number of remaining employees responsible for transitional work. Some employees have already received related notices today. Currently, Yahoo News has about 30 to 40 full-time employees, and it is estimated that only about one-third will remain in April.

In recent years, Yahoo News has established a news editing team that mainly observes user data to understand readers’ news needs and then provides relevant news content.
