St. Patrick's Day is generally a green day for the American stock market!


In 23 of the last 31 St. Patrick's Day sessions, the S&P 500 finished the day higher, with an average gain of around 0.7%.
The S&P 500 has also closed in positive territory 9 out of the last 11 times when St. Patrick's Day fell on a Tuesday, delivering an average return of about 1.1%.
Of course, historical statistics cannot guarantee exactly what the market will do today.
