On March 17th, local time, Joseph Kent, Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, resigned due to the United States and Israel’s war against Iran.

In a letter posted on social media to President Trump, he stated: “Iran does not pose an imminent threat to our country.”

Kent wrote in the letter: “Honestly, I cannot support the ongoing war against Iran. Iran does not pose an imminent threat to our country. It is clear that we are waging this war because of the pressure from Israel and its powerful lobbying forces.”

Some experts have said that under current law, the United States must face an “imminent threat” to justify going to war. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence also did not respond immediately.
