Beijing: Sales area of newly built commodity housing in the city for January-February was 934,000 square meters, down 1.3% year-over-year
On March 17, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics released the operation status of Beijing’s real estate market for January-February 2026.
From January to February, the total new construction area of real estate development enterprises in the city was 1.049 million square meters, a decrease of 18.4% year-on-year. Among them, the new residential construction area was 796,000 square meters, down 33.1%.
The total completed construction area of buildings in the city was 1.162 million square meters, a decrease of 22.6% year-on-year. Among them, the completed residential area was 637,000 square meters, down 16.6%.
From January to February, the sales area of new commercial housing in the city was 934,000 square meters, a decrease of 1.3% year-on-year. Among them, the sales area of residential properties was 664,000 square meters, an increase of 10.9%, mainly driven by concentrated signing of affordable housing; office buildings covered 18,000 square meters, down 21.9%; commercial business premises covered 111,000 square meters, down 11.7%.
From January to February, the total funds received by real estate development enterprises in the city this year amounted to 42.14 billion yuan, a decrease of 7.5% year-on-year. Among them, deposits and prepayments were 18.37 billion yuan, down 5.9%; domestic loans were 10.32 billion yuan, down 0.6%; self-raised funds were 6.21 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%.
