Trump Praises Messi: "Your team doesn't have a single ugly person!" Then abruptly shifts: "Next is Cuba," leaving "King of the Ball" confused

On the 6th local time, Lionel Messi led the players of Inter Miami CF to visit the White House and meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023, shortly after the team won the MLS Cup by defeating Vancouver Whitecaps. He has been named league MVP for two consecutive years.

During his welcoming speech, Trump said, “As the first American president to be so fortunate, I can tell you, welcome, Messi. Since you arrived in the U.S., you’ve started winning right away. Honestly, that’s very difficult because people expect you to win, and almost no one can keep winning.”

Throughout the meeting, Messi did not speak.

According to CCTV News, Trump suddenly mentioned his next goal was to “solve Cuba,” so that U.S. Secretary of State Rubio (Cuban-American) could “return to his homeland.” Media footage captured Messi’s serious expression and a lack of smile after hearing this.

To ease the atmosphere, Trump then shifted the topic to Inter Miami midfielder and Argentine player De Paul, praising his good looks. “I find that there isn’t a single unattractive player on your team. I don’t like being surrounded by very good-looking people; it makes me feel insecure,” Trump said.

Video footage shows that although Messi did not speak, when Trump mentioned U.S. military personnel, some audience members clapped, and Messi joined in with other players. This action drew criticism from many.

Some American netizens commented, “I never thought that one day, while Trump was bragging about bombing other countries, Messi and Suarez (football stars and Inter Miami players) would be in the background.”
