People’s Financial News, March 16 — On March 15, 2026, China’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, Zhai Jun, had a phone call with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hala Al Thani. Hala Al Thani stated that the current crisis has caused significant losses to Qatar and has severely impacted international energy supplies and economic development, which is not in the interests of any party. The international community should take action to help ease regional tensions. Qatar appreciates China’s fair stance and is willing to work closely with China to promote all parties to return to the right track of resolving issues through negotiations and dialogue as soon as possible. Zhai Jun said that China fully understands Qatar’s position on the current situation. Achieving a ceasefire and resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations is a common consensus in the international community, and the key is to turn this consensus into action. Responsible countries should work separately to prevent escalation of tensions and avoid the situation becoming uncontrollable. China appreciates Qatar’s long-standing role in mediating international and regional affairs and is willing to work with Qatar to leverage their influence to promote a ceasefire, de-escalate the situation, and restore peace and stability as soon as possible.
