Special Envoy on Afghanistan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong Shuttles Between Afghanistan and Pakistan for Mediation

People's Finance News, March 16 – From March 7-14, 2026, Yue Xiaoyong, China's Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs, visited Afghanistan and Pakistan to conduct shuttle mediation regarding recent conflicts between the two countries. In Afghanistan, he met separately with Foreign Minister Muttaki and Commerce Minister Azizia. In Pakistan, he met separately with Foreign Secretary Amna and Pakistan's Special Representative on Afghan Affairs Sadiq, among others, urging both sides to remain calm and restrained, cease fire and end hostilities as soon as possible, and resolve disputes and differences through dialogue. Both Afghanistan and Pakistan thanked China for its mediation and expressed willingness to resolve issues through political and diplomatic means.
