U.S. Senator Gillibrand on the 12th said that President Trump should explain the attack on an elementary school in Iran and has called for Defense Secretary Hagel to resign over the incident.
Gillibrand wrote on social media, “Regarding the order by Trump to attack an elementary school in Iran, resulting in children’s deaths, the American people deserve an answer from Trump. Hagel has repeatedly proven he is unfit for leadership. Trump must put national interests first and dismiss Hagel.”
On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. An elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, was attacked, resulting in at least 165 deaths, mostly young girls around 10 years old.

U.S. European Command Commander and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Greenkiewicz, confirmed at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the 12th that the attack on the elementary school in southern Iran on February 28 was carried out by U.S. forces. Preliminary investigations found that U.S. forces targeted an IRGC Navy base near the school but “missed the target.” Some informed officials said that personnel from U.S. Central Command used “outdated” data provided by the CIA to create the airstrike target coordinates. He claimed that the attack was caused by a “series of errors and mistakes.”
According to previous reports from CCTV News citing U.S. media, an ongoing investigation by the U.S. military initially concluded that an Iranian elementary school was hit by a “Tomahawk” missile on February 28, causing heavy casualties.
