Just got back from Macau. After a few days of playing baccarat and Texas Hold’em, I found that trading in the crypto market is basically no different from this. It’s all about going head-to-head with probability, and battling against human nature. Your win rate—maybe it’s not that important after all.
What matters is the risk-reward ratio. You might be wrong seven times out of ten, but as long as the three times you’re right are enough to make you a lot of money, then you’re the big winner. Just like in poker: you don’t need to put every hand into the pot. You only play when you have cards. Win a big one, and you can make up for all the earlier small losses—sometimes even turn the whole thing around.
Trading is like a spring. Every time you press it to the critical point, that’s when you face your biggest gains and losses. Whether you can hold steady at that point and keep placing bets comes down to probability, not emotion. A lot of people lose because when they should stay calm, they panic; when they should push, they hesitate.
Profit and loss share the same source—this saying is so true. If you want to make big money, you have to be willing to bear the possibility of big losses. If you open up your risk exposure wide, it means everything goes big and fast. When things are against you, it can
help you stage a comeback; when things are in your favor, it can help you turn the tables and rise.
Whether it’s the poker table or a K-line chart, in the end, what determines success or failure is your understanding of risk, and your ability to control human nature—plainly, it’s just a game of strategy.
Don’t always think about “getting rich overnight.” Think first about how to live a little longer; place bets evenly and consistently.
