On March 30, SpaceX confirmed that one of the satellites in its satellite internet system, Starlink, experienced an anomaly in orbit on the 29th and lost communications. The company and the Starlink mission team are investigating the cause of the incident, will continue to monitor that satellite and traceable debris, and will stay in coordination with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the U.S. Space Force. The analysis shows that this incident will not pose new risks to the International Space Station and its astronauts, or to the crewed lunar-orbit mission of Artemis 2, which is set to be launched soon. U.S. media reports said this means SpaceX and other satellite constellation operators, as well as rocket launch providers, need to avoid these pieces of debris to prevent a collision.
