ME News message, April 9 (UTC+8). An analyst at U.S. First Citizens Bank said in a report that the U.S. CPI data to be released on Friday is expected to be the first to meaningfully reflect the transmission of the Iran energy shock. Driven by a surge in energy costs, overall inflation will accelerate. The bank’s head of market and economic research noted that although core inflation would be affected more mildly, the Federal Reserve will “ignore” the energy-driven spike in inflation. This would reinforce the Federal Reserve’s long-standing stance of staying put and would tightly link any potential rate cuts to the normalization of energy prices. (Source: ChainCatcher)
