European Central Bank Governing Council Member: The European Central Bank will discuss raising interest rates and maintaining current rates.

ME News message, April 5 (UTC+8). Jintei News reports that on a podcast aired on April 4, Slepni, a member of the European Central Bank’s Executive Board and Governor of the Central Bank of the Netherlands, said that the European Central Bank will next discuss options around rate hikes and maintaining interest rates unchanged. He believes this will be the focus of the discussion at the ECB’s interest rate decision on April 30. Although there will be new data available for reference by then, the amount will be limited. He added: “We are currently in the same position as the U.S. Federal Reserve; we don’t know how the interest rate path will develop. But in any case, we will ultimately make a decision based on the data available at that time.” (Source: Jintei News)
