April 9, the originally scheduled first round of US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad suddenly saw new uncertainties. Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Mughaddam, suddenly deleted a social media post announcing the delegation’s trip to attend the talks in Pakistan.
On Thursday, the White House confirmed that US Vice President JD Vance will lead a delegation to Pakistan on Saturday to attend this round of negotiations.
Over the ceasefire agreement reached this Tuesday, there are fundamental disagreements between the US and Iran: on the Lebanon issue, Iran insists the ceasefire includes Lebanon and demands that Israel stop attacking Hezbollah, while Trump and Vance explicitly deny that Lebanon was ever included in the ceasefire scope; on uranium enrichment, Iran argues that the agreement guarantees its right to uranium enrichment, and the US has clearly said it “will never accept” it. #美伊停火协议谈判再生变故
