Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations: The United States admits to arming Iranian opposition groups before
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iraj Masjedi, emphasized in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council that “this clear admission powerfully proves the consistent position of the Islamic Republic of Iran—namely, that the United States has always sought to turn peaceful protests inside Iran into violence, civil strife, and bloody clashes.”
Masjedi said that in an interview on April 5, Trump publicly acknowledged: “During protests in Iran in January this year, Washington armed an Iranian Kurdish opposition group.”
Masjedi stated that such actions are consistent with the United States’ long-standing policy of creating, funding, and arming terrorist organizations in the Middle East and other regions, and constitute an open/public provocation and challenge to the UN Charter as well as to the fundamental principles and rules of international law.
