Apple updates App Store policies, loosening NFT and external payment restrictions for apps in the US region.
Apple updated its iOS App Store review guidelines after losing the antitrust case against Epic Games, easing restrictions on apps in the U.S. that guide users to use third-party payment methods and browse others’ NFT collections. The court ruled that Apple “intentionally” violated a 2021 injunction that prohibited it from charging a 27% fee on external app payments and restricted redirecting behavior. Although the new rules do not apply to in-app features like premium content or in-game purchases, developers believe this will create more experimental space for encryption-native mobile applications. Apple still prohibits apps from issuing coins by completing tasks, issuing ICOs, or using devices for Mining. (Decrypt)
