The GameFi sector performed poorly in 2025. According to data, the total market capitalization dropped to approximately $7.8 billion, a 68% decline compared to the same period last year. Trading activity also significantly declined, with the total transaction volume for the year around $1.3 billion, a 69% decrease. Investment returns were even more dismal, with an average ROI of -75%, and some tokens were cut in half multiple times, with declines exceeding 90%.

However, industry insiders remain optimistic about the future. Some believe that the release of GTA 6 could be a turning point, using the hype of major game releases to rekindle global players' interest in blockchain games. Others are focusing on immersive technologies like AR and VR, believing that new interaction methods could inject fresh vitality into the GameFi ecosystem.

-75% ROI? nah that's just the tip of the iceberg tbh. learned this the hard way watching my entire portfolio get liquidated in 2022... GTA 6 hype ain't saving this, technically speaking the whole sector got exposed as a ponzi mechanics dressed up in fancy tech speak. VR/AR copium is real tho, not gonna lie

This GameFi is truly amazing. How can you still claim there's hope with a -75% ROI? GTA6 can't save this mess. I'm tired of the AR/VR talk; it's just a new way to harvest profits from newcomers. Last year, I was dreaming of making money; this year, I’m dreaming of bankruptcy. Chain games are still too early; let's wait and see.

Oh my god, -75% ROI? It completely broke me, luckily I didn't go all in. Can GTA6 save this crappy market? I don't believe it, the problems with blockchain games are not in the games themselves. Wait, I actually have high hopes for AR/VR, but there must be real products landing first. Halved again... just hearing it makes me uncomfortable. Who the hell still dares to touch GameFi now?

Cut after cut, can it still survive? If GTA 6 can save the game public chain, I’ll livestream eating my phone.

Oh no, another big plunge this year. GameFi really can't hold up this time. Wait, can GTA6 save this sector? I doubt it. A -75% ROI just made me laugh out loud. Who can withstand that? We've been hearing about VR for three years, but there's still no movement.

Honestly, an average ROI of -75%, who the hell can handle that? Can GTA6 really save the day? I'm a bit skeptical. They're hyping VR and AR again; I've heard this spiel for three years. For those who suffered heavy losses last year, do you still want to keep gambling? Wait, will those tokens that keep getting cut in half rebound to 3x? Forget it, let's first see if there are any new projects worth checking out.
