🇺🇸🇻🇪🇨🇺 PRESIDENT TRUMP CUTS OFF CUBA'S OIL SUPPLY, FORCES NEGOTIATION
This weekend, the market is quite quiet. Currently, the US Futures market is still closed. Usually, Futures will start to fluctuate when it opens around 3 PM California time / 6 AM Vietnam time. Some information has emerged over the weekend, but it’s not as tense as last weekend.
🔹 President Trump announced he will completely cut off oil and money from Venezuela flowing to Cuba, and called on Cuba to reach an agreement with the US before it’s too late
🔹 Venezuela is Cuba’s largest oil supplier, accounting for about 50% of the shortfall, but no shipments have been made since early January after the US tightened the oil embargo
🔹 The US and Venezuela are nearing a $2 billion agreement, providing up to 50 million barrels of oil to the US, with the funds kept in an account monitored by the US Department of the Treasury
🔹 President Trump stated that Venezuela has begun releasing political prisoners, and issued clear warning statements
🔹 President Trump emphasized that Cuba has lived for many years on oil and money from Venezuela, and that advantage has now been cut off
🔹 Cuba responded, asserting its right to buy oil from any country, but in reality, many areas are under great pressure due to power shortages and declining refining capacity
🔹 Mexico has emerged as an alternative supply source for Cuba, but previously the volume was very small, likely insufficient to make up for the shortfall from Venezuela
🔹 President Trump also sarcastically mentioned the possibility of Foreign Minister Marco Rubio becoming the future president of Cuba. Marco Rubio is of Cuban-American descent, from a family of Cuban refugees, and has long taken a hardline stance against the Cuban government#GateSquareCreatorNewYearIncentives
