Farcaster clarifies continued operation with a stable monthly active user base of 250,000
【Crypto World】Recently, Farcaster was rumored to be shutting down, but co-founder Dan Romero directly refuted these rumors. This decentralized social protocol is not only doing well but also steadily growing.
Data shows that by December 2025, the monthly active users will reach 250,000, with over 100,000 recharge wallets. Although the user base may not seem particularly large, it precisely demonstrates the project’s ongoing vitality—an unviable project would have been eliminated by the market long ago.
It is worth noting that Farcaster is transitioning to a developer-oriented startup called Neynar, which will be responsible for the main operations. This strategic adjustment indicates that the project team has a clearer understanding of its positioning—focusing on the protocol layer and entrusting ecosystem development to a professional team.
There is also big news on the fundraising front. Merkle raised $180 million in this round, but the co-founder stated that all of this money will be returned to investors. As for Dan Romero’s recent house purchase funds? Those came from funds raised during a major exchange’s IPO period, which is entirely unrelated—there’s no misappropriation of project funds.
Overall, Farcaster’s survival status is much more stable than rumors suggest, and the ecosystem transition is proceeding smoothly.
