Vitalik advocates for ethical development of cryptocurrency communities

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has once again drawn attention to a critical issue in the cryptocurrency space—the lack of ethical norms and standards of conduct within the global community. According to various sources, the creator of the second-largest blockchain expressed serious concern about how communities allow unconditional support for influential figures, despite doubts about their approaches and methods.

Criticism of Uncritical Attitude Towards Authorities

Vitalik pointed out the example of Salvadoran leadership, which adopted Bitcoin as a national policy but used methods far from democratic. The Ethereum founder emphasized that the crypto community, especially in the Bitcoin sector, often demonstrates unwavering loyalty to influential personalities without critically evaluating their actions. In his view, such an approach contradicts the fundamental values of decentralization and independence that should underpin the cryptocurrency philosophy.

Independence of Projects and Value Orientations

Vitalik also highlighted that projects should have the right to choose their own development paths. For example, Luna deliberately chose not to build on Ethereum, and this was an honest decision, not an act of bias. Such independence of projects is a sign of healthy ecosystem development.

Path to a More Responsible Crypto Space

Ethereum’s founder calls on cryptocurrency communities to actively support destructive actions while acknowledging that some malicious behavior is inevitable in any growing space. However, this should not serve as an excuse for passivity. Vitalik believes that crypto communities are capable of and obliged to foster a culture of responsibility, where ethical behavior is encouraged and destructive actions are criticized regardless of who commits them.
