Telegram Scam: A Bullet Point Plan of Mass Deception Schemes in Messaging Apps
Organized fraud on Telegram has reached a new level. If before it was just one-time attempts, now we are dealing with a full-fledged criminal infrastructure with a network of channels, call centers, a professional staff, and large advertising budgets. The analytical thesis plan of activity for one such network was published by the research channel SCAM LIST, revealing an unprecedented scale of the problem.
How the scam scheme is organized
The criminals operate according to a proven algorithm. First, phishing is used — victims are redirected to a fake “investment platform” with a convincing interface. An artificially generated profit is displayed on the screen, enticing the client to the next stage.
Then, constant contact begins. Calls, messages, persistent demands to top up the deposit, pay a fee, or pass a “profile check.” Fake documents, fictitious regulator names, and imitation of official checks are used to legitimize the process. Each stage is designed to extract the maximum amount of money.
According to SCAM LIST, only from January 10 to 17, at least 15 new channels of such a network were activated. Another 7 Telegram channels were deleted on January 17, but new ones appear daily.
Scale of losses: from thousands to tens of thousands
Victims’ loss statistics show a growing alarming trend. Minimum loss amounts start at $1,000. However, the figures are often much higher — several thousand per operation. The most severe cases are recorded in the range of $40,000-$50,000 per victim.
Recently, the editorial received a message from a subscriber who encountered this scheme directly and lost significant funds. His story is just one of hundreds of similar cases in the past month.
Deposit protection: how not to fall into the trap
The key rule: be extremely cautious of strangers who send private messages and invite you to “verified investment projects” or “surefire topics.” This is a classic sign of phishing.
Before using any platform for investing, verify it independently. Either find the official website yourself through search or get the link from a trusted source. Remember: never follow links from messages from unknown people.
Applying this simple thesis protection plan can save your money. Fraudulent call centers on Telegram will become less successful if every user critically evaluates external offers.
