EU announces investigation into Chinese wind power giant; Ministry of Foreign Affairs: It damages the EU's image
On February 4th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a routine press conference. A reporter from Agence France-Presse asked about the EU’s announcement to investigate China’s wind power giant Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd., citing concerns that the company benefits from government subsidies, which distort EU market competition. What is China’s comment on this?
“You are advised to inquire about the specific situation from the relevant Chinese authorities,” Lin Jian said. He pointed out that the EU frequently uses unilateral trade tools to impose discriminatory restrictions on Chinese companies, sending signals of protectionism, damaging the EU’s image, and affecting Chinese companies’ confidence in investing in Europe.
Lin Jian emphasized that China urges the EU to honor its commitments to market openness and fair competition, stop abusing unilateral trade tools, and provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for companies from all countries. China firmly safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
