# Apple Adds AI Agents to Xcode Development Environment

Apple has added AI agents based on Claude from Anthropic and Codex from OpenAI to the Xcode application development environment.

Source: Apple. Thanks to this new solution, the service can operate more autonomously to achieve developer goals — from task breakdown to decision-making based on project architecture and the use of built-in tools.

Agents can search documentation, study file structures, update project settings, and visually verify their work.

“At Apple, our goal is to create tools that provide developers with cutting-edge technology so they can build the best applications,” — said Susan Prescott, Vice President of International Relations with Creators at Apple.

She added that programming with AI agents significantly boosts productivity and creativity by optimizing the development workflow.

The interface for communicating with the digital assistant is located on the left side of the screen. Using natural language commands, AI can be asked to create a new project or make changes to an existing one. It will then draft a plan and start working.

The neural network keeps a log of its actions, allowing users to review its work and undo changes if necessary.

In Xcode version 26.3, the Model Context Protocol — an open standard that “gives programmers flexibility in using any compatible agent or tool” — has been integrated.

Recall that in November 2025, Microsoft discovered vulnerabilities in AI agents after extensive testing.
